My name is Vi. I’m a British–Ivorian filmmaker and researcher drawn to lyrical, diaristic storytelling. Narrative is at the heart of how I think and feel, it’s one of the most powerful ways we share identity, culture, and experience. I explore film through feeling, image, and perspective, with a growing focus on criticism and theory that opens up new ways of seeing. My heritage deeply shapes how I create and respond to stories, it’s always present, whether I’m writing essays or directing films. This year, I’m directing two short films and preparing an entry for Straight 8 in 2026. I’m constantly refining my voice and craft, working to create pieces that resonate and give meaning.
